Homeshoring in Canada

May 10, 2006

Here is an old article (last week) that I have finally got around to reading:

“Call centres offer service that’s closer to home”
This article makes clear that homeshoring is a solution that can work outside of the US. It is important to note that this Canadian article makes a point of describing how homeshoring can help the handicapped – a labor source that has long been overlooked by companies in need of labor.

Another benefit of homeshoring is mentioned too:

“It’s practical for us,” St-Hubert official Gerald Desmarais said of virtual call-centre agents like Poulin. “Even if there is a winter storm, it allows us to have rapid response to our customers because there’s no need for the home agents to displace themselves.”

Finally, this article explicity mentions homeshoring provider Working Solutions as increasing its presence in Canada. I would be curious to know if other homeshoring companies are also planning to grow in Canada.

I have a virtual call centre set up in my home, and I am very interested in obtaining work in this area.

How does one go about locating homeshoring companies in Canada?
